Journalism refers to the production and distribution of reports on recent events. The journalism is the professional methods of gathering information and organizing literary styles. Journalistic mediums include print, television, radio, and internet. Though journalism is the backbone of the media industry, it is a very highly competitive environment to work with.

Journalism is even critical to a high functioning democracy. To be successful as a journalist, you must have a passion for truth, honesty, and integrity, and the guts to go out and get the story. To become a successful journalist, an inquiring mindset is more important with some intrinsic skills. You must be passionate to learn more and gather knowledge on the topic you work with.

When you are writing about a story or event, you must look from a vantage point and report all sides of the story rather make a note on one-sided. A good journalist gets all sides of the story, prints it and then lets the reader decide, based upon the article. There is an old saying in journalism that still is used in the field today that states “If your mother says she loves you, check it out.

” Check and re-check your facts. Be sure that you double check on names and spelling. If you learned these rules, you can march toward a successful journalism. To begin your career in journalism, you can pursue a college degree in journalism or mass media. Learn as many languages you could.  Learn to be effective communication and writer. Many schools have newspapers, yearbooks, newsletters, or radio stations that accept interns.

The experience gained is essential when it comes time to apply for a job.   Build your own portfolio of your work that you can present about a niche and make sure it is quality work.  You cannot rely on word processing systems to catch your spelling and grammatical errors, and these common mistakes will almost guarantee that you struggle in your quest for employment.  Often in journalism, what you write goes live without anyone in the middle to make sure you’ve spelled everything right and used proper grammar.  Also, read everything you can get your hands on.

Read newspapers, subscribe to magazines, explore books.  It is very important to stay up to date on current events. Learn yourself some of the technical skills like handling a digital camera, journalism required a lot of evidence to prove you are right. And a picture is equal to thousands of words. Learn photography and even audiography to record audio. Learn software tools like Photoshop, Illustrator.

Design your blog or website and publish your content online. You can spread your content to the world through social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter etc. that will get your name out there, help you make connections, and continue to write. Every journalist love to hold a diary to make a quick note like an antique journal. Get 2018 diaries and start writing your thought and gather knowledge and document it and begin your career in journalism.
